Welcome to Platuni. Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and vibrant space where international students, hosts, local students and users generally can connect, collaborate, and find the perfect apartment pairing while engaging with community-driven media.

These Community Guidelines exist to ensure everyone enjoys a respectful, supportive, and trustworthy environment. Whether you're here to find a roommate, contribute to discussions, look for value-added services or explore content within our media communities, these guidelines will help us maintain a positive and engaging platform for all.

By joining Platuni, you agree to uphold these principles and treat others with respect. Together, we can build a community where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Let's make this platform a place we're all proud to be part of.

Our community thrives on a foundation of values that ensure a positive, inclusive, and safe experience for everyone. These principles guide how we interact and uphold the integrity of our platform:

1. Respect and Inclusion

   Everyone deserves to feel welcomed and valued. Treat others with kindness, acknowledge diverse perspectives, and engage in a way that fosters mutual respect. We value and celebrate different cultures, identities, appearances, viewpoints, interests, and experiences. We know some communities historically have been afforded fewer opportunities for engagement, so we are committed to the principle of equality and mitigating harms that disproportionately affect marginalised groups.

2. Safety and Privacy

   We are committed to protecting your personal information and creating a secure space where you can connect without fear or compromise. We are also committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of our community and of individuals who are shown or discussed in content on the platform. We seek to ensure that content shared on the platform does not expose anyone's personal information or invade their intimate privacy.

3. Transparency and Authenticity

   Honesty builds trust. We want everyone to know what our rules and standards are and how we apply them. We seek to provide clear notice of our policies and practices, to apply them consistently and equitably. From profiles to communications, we encourage transparency to ensure genuine connections and reliable interactions.

4. Fairness and Equity

   Discrimination has no place here. Decisions and interactions must be free from bias, ensuring equal opportunities for all members of our community. Please see our Anti-Discrimination Policy for more information.

5. Collaboration and Support

   We are stronger together. Whether pairing for an apartment or contributing to community discussions, supporting one another creates a thriving, collaborative space for everyone.

Account Usage

To maintain a safe and trustworthy community, all members are expected to adhere to these guidelines for account usage:

1. Eligibility

   To confirm your eligibility to use the platform, kindly refer to our Terms of Service. It is essential to understand that individuals who do not meet the specified criteria outlined in these Terms of Use will be deemed ineligible to access our services. Engaging with the platform without proper eligibility constitutes a violation of our Guidelines, which may result in the immediate suspension or banning of your account.

2. Accurate Information

   Honesty is essential for meaningful connections. When creating your profile, provide accurate and truthful information about yourself, your preferences, and your needs. Misleading or false information is prohibited.

3. One Account per User

   Users are permitted to have only one account on the platform. Creating multiple accounts, regardless of the reason, is strictly prohibited. Additionally, sharing your account with others is not allowed. Engaging in either of these practices may lead to disciplinary actions, which could include temporary suspension or permanent removal from the platform. To maintain a fair and secure environment for all users, it is important to adhere to this policy.

4. Account Security

   Protect your account by keeping your login details confidential. Sharing your credentials with others compromises your security and the integrity of the platform.

5. Profile Updates

   It's important to regularly update your profile to accurately reflect your current preferences, needs, and availability. This not only helps you present yourself authentically but also enhances your chances of connecting with individuals who are genuinely compatible with you.

6. Non-Transferability

   User accounts are strictly personal and cannot be shared or transferred to anyone else. Under no circumstances should you sell, transfer, or give away your account to another individual. Maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account is essential, so please ensure that you never disclose your login information or grant access to others. Violating these guidelines can lead to severe consequences, including permanent account suspension.

Safety

As we have mentioned above, our users' safety is our priority, and we aim to create a safe experience for both Hosts and Guests, as well as other users. Therefore, it is important to note that, in a bid to foster safety, certain behaviours are not allowed in this community.

• We require that you refrain from endangering or threatening anyone.
• Do not convey an intent to harm anyone by your words or physical actions.
• Do not keep unsecured weapons, disease risks, or dangerous animals in your listings that can expose Guests to danger or create conditions that increase the likelihood of fire or impede escape in the event of an emergency.
• Respect other people's property and personal belongings.
• Do not take what is not yours or use someone's property without their permission, or copy others' keys or identity documents, damage others property.
• Do not commit booking fraud, credit card fraud, launder money or attempt to drive traffic to other sites or market unrelated products.
• Do not also try to divert payments meant for others, abuse our referrals system or make false claims against other members of the community.

Community Interaction Rules

To maintain a positive and thriving community, all interactions on the platform must align with these rules:

1. Respectful Communication

   • Treat all members with kindness and respect, even when opinions differ.
   • Avoid any language or behaviour that could be considered offensive, aggressive, or demeaning.

2. Prohibited Content

   Do not post or share:

   • Hate speech, discriminatory remarks, or harassment of any kind. Content that attacks or demeans individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or other protected characteristics is prohibited. Also, any form of harassment, including but not limited to cyberbullying, stalking, doxing (sharing private personal information), and repeatedly sending unwanted messages are not permitted.
   • Pornographic, violent, or graphic content, promoting nudity and sexually suggestive content, and gratuitous violence are strictly prohibited, including excessive use of profanity or offensive language.
   • Illegal or harmful content, including anything that promotes criminal activity such as drug use, trafficking, money laundering, etc.
   • Spam, self-promotion, or advertisements unrelated to the platform's purpose. This may include content unrelated to professional development or networking, unsolicited or irrelevant messages, including advertising, promotions, or links.
   • Content promoting or encouraging self-harm or suicide.

3. Relevant Contributions

   Stay on topic in discussions, groups, and forums. Ensure your contributions are relevant and add value to the conversation.

4. Privacy and Consent

   Ensure you do not share non-public personal data such as your login details, home address, social security number, or financial information, among others. If a user has shared their personal or sensitive information, including photos, videos, or content involving others with you, respect their privacy by not sharing such information without explicit permission.

5. Constructive Engagement

   Offer thoughtful, helpful, and constructive input in community discussions. Negative or disruptive behaviour is not tolerated.

6. Media Sharing Guidelines

   All shared media (photos, videos, articles) must adhere to platform standards and avoid inappropriate, copyrighted, or irrelevant material. Please see our Terms of Use on Content and Copyright Infringement.

7. No Scamming or Fraud

   Misleading others, attempting scams, or engaging in fraudulent activities is strictly prohibited.

8. Professional Networking Guidelines

   • Authenticity: Represent yourself and your professional interests honestly and accurately.
   • Networking Etiquette: Follow professional networking etiquette, such as introducing yourself clearly, being mindful of others' time, and following up appropriately.
   • Respectful Communication: Engage in respectful and constructive conversations with other professionals.
   • Appropriate Use of Platform: Use Platuni for professional networking purposes and avoid using it for personal or unrelated matters.

Enforcement

Platuni reserves the right to take appropriate action against users who violate these Community Guidelines, including:

• Removing content
• Issuing warnings
• Temporarily suspending accounts
• Permanently banning accounts

Reporting Violations

If you encounter any behavior or content that violates these Community Guidelines, please report it immediately using the platform's reporting tools. You can use the "Report" link near the content you want to report or report through the Help Centre.

Updates and Feedback
